How to Assemble an Effective SMS Blast

How to Assemble an Effective SMS Blast

IMPORTAN NOTE: NO TEXT BLASTING ALLOWED FOR TEXAS CLIENTS

1. Ideal Text Length

  • Keep it short and impactful: 120–160 characters max.
  • (This ensures your full message appears in one text bubble.)
  • Avoid walls of text. SMS is for quick reads and fast actions.

Example:

Feeling stiff or sore? Our clinic is offering $50 off your first SoftWave session this week. Call or text to book: (555) 123-4567

2. Structure of the SMS

  1. Hook (attention-grabber): Address a common problem or benefit.
  2. Offer or Value: State what’s in it for the patient.
  3. Action: End with a direct CTA (Call, Text, or Click).
  4. Compliance Footer (if applicable): “Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”

Formula Example:

[Benefit or Offer] + [Urgency or Limited Time] + [CTA + Contact Info]

Back pain slowing you down? Non-surgical relief is here! Book your free consult today—spots fill fast. Call (555) 123-4567

3. Personalization & Segmentation

Segment your SMS list for higher conversions:

  • Use personal names and reference local context when appropriate:

“Hi Maria! Our San Diego clinic is now offering LightStim LED sessions for faster healing—want to try it? Text YES to learn more.”

Do’s

  • Include opt-out language (“Reply STOP to opt out”).
  • Use your clinic name in every message for brand trust.
  • Keep tone friendly and professional.
  • Personalize when possible (“Hi Sarah, we’re offering…”).
  • Test your messages before sending (check links, timing, readability).
  • Include a strong urgency cue (e.g., “Ends tomorrow!”).
  • Always use one clear CTA. Too many choices = no action.

Don’ts

  • Don’t use all caps, excessive punctuation, or emoji chains (e.g., “!!!🔥🔥🔥”).
  • Don’t include more than 1 link per text.
  • Don't include images or attachments
  • Don’t use URL shorteners that look spammy (e.g., bit.ly or tinyurl); use branded links if possible.
  • Don’t send more than 1–2 promotional texts per week.
  • Don’t include sensitive health details or patient identifiers (HIPAA compliance).

5. Timing for Maximum Open & Response Rates

SMS is instant—timing is everything.

Best Days to Send:

  • Tuesday–Thursday → highest engagement
  • Avoid: Mondays (inbox overload) and Fridays/Sundays (low attention)

Best Times to Send:

  • Morning: 9:00–11:00 AM
  • Afternoon: 2:00–4:30 PM
  • (These catch patients during breaks or before end of workday.)

Avoid:

  • Early mornings or late evenings (outside 8 AM–8 PM local time).
  • Weekends, unless promoting last-minute or holiday offers.
